[FIRST IMPRESSIONS | DRAMA - SERIES]: EXTRAORDINARY YOU - A DAY FOUND BY CHANCE

Hello! It's been a while since I posted here and I'm back with a new entry for my Drama-Series first impressions. This time a new youth fantasy drama that I started watching. It was based on a webtoon called 어쩌다 발견한 하루 (A Day Found By Chance) by Muryu, it's already complete with 2 volumes.

A Day Found By Chance and now called Extraordinary You for its drama title, is about a high school student named Eun Da-Noh finds out that she's living in a comic world also knowing that the people she communicates with are also characters in a comic called 'Secret'. Eun Da-Noh who is conscious about her world tries to find her own fate and defies the plot.

I want to mention that this drama also has beautiful promotional posters. It's refreshing and coincides with the youth fantasy drama. I love it. This made me more hype about the whole series. They better give a raise for their graphic designer for these lovely posters.

Last week of October 2, 2019; Extraordinary You held their press-conference and all the main leading cast are present on it, answering and greeting the press before the actual airing of the drama that was also occurred on the same day.

Kim Hye Yoon is back after her successful hit drama Sky Castle that earned her Best New Actress this year and this time she plays as Eun Da-Noh, a high school student who has everything, she also has a fiance but doesn't like her despite the wealth and status, Eun Da-Noh is suffering from heart disease. When Eun Da-Noh experiences a memory loss and sees the future events, she tries to find out that truth from the happenings then she finds out that she's a character from a comic world called 'Secret' but not only that, she finds out that she's a side character. Eun Da-Noh who is conscious of her world tries to defy the plot.

This is Kim Hye Yoon's first main lead role in a drama. After watching the two episodes left me a good impression that she's a good actress. She's very expressive with her scenes may it be comical or emotional. I'm excited for her as she's one of the new generations of actresses that I look forward to that will excel in the long run. Kim Hye Yoon choosing this project is a good choice. She's still at that age where she can still be youthful and I'm so glad that she's our main lead for this drama.

Ro Woon from the idol group SF9 plays as Haru. Haru is the character that makes Eun Da-Noh heartbeats and flutters. He plays an important role in Eun Da-Noh's comic life. Despite not knowing his existence comes from, the boy who has no name finds its light from Eun Da-Noh.

As of now, that's the only information that I could mention for Ro Woon's character Haru. I don't want to spoil it more but yes, he plays an important role here. This is also Ro Woon's first lead drama role and it's so perfect for him as his visuals and height coincide with the character. Though Haru in the webtoon has a soft characterization, Ro Woon seems to have a manly visual that makes him look more reliable. Kim Hye Yoon and Ro Woon are same age friends so whenever they film their scenes they are not awkward and they have laugh & smile while filming which is a good thing because it makes the filming atmosphere comfortable.

After his successful drama Search: WWW, Lee Jae Wook is back but this time, he plays as Baek Kyung. Baek Kyung is Eun Da-Noh's fiance, they both grew up together. Baek Kyung also has a status in life but carries a scar from the past that made him act today. Baek Kyun is part of A3 and has a bad boy characterization. Baek Kyung didn't like the engagement between him and Eun Da-Noh since he doesn't like her. When the air flows to a different path and he sees Eun Da-Noh being happy with the person she likes, Baek Kyung feels something different from it.

Other than the reason why I watch this drama because of Kim Hye Yoon, I also look forward to Lee Jae Wook here. Definitely, one of the new young actors to see. Lee Jae Wook plays like a bad boy type of character. His aura and the way he acts his scenes are well done. He carried that bad boy character. I also look forward to their chemistry between him and Kim Hye Yoon since in the webtoon they have this odd, love-hate treatment. I don't know how the drama will work on that but I'm hoping the drama adaptation will follow the paths of the webtoon.

Kpop idol girl group APRIL's Lee Na Eun plays as Yeo Joo Da. In the webtoon, Eun Da-Noh finds out that she's a side character and it happens that the lead of their comic world 'Secret' is Yeo Joo Da. Yeo Joo Da experiences mistreatment from her classmates because A3's leader Oh Nam Joo is interested in her and Lee Do-Hwa has a secret crush on her.

Kim Young Dae plays as Oh Nam Joo; Oh Nam Joo is A3's leader and has that high-status aura in their school. Oh, Nam Joo is the lead male in their comic world called 'Secret'. Oh Nam Joo becomes interested in Yeo Joo Da and pursues her in a way he knows.

Jung Gun-Joo plays as Lee Do-Hwa. Lee Do-Hwa is part of A3, he is soft-spoken and has a well-mannered personality. Just like the members of A3, Lee Do-Hwa comes from a wealthy family and his brother is Eun Da-Noh's doctor. Lee Do-Hwa is the second lead to their comic world called 'Secret' and he happens to have a secret crush to Yeo Joo Da. In the webtoon, Lee Do-Hwa eventually realizes that he's in a different world; he and Eun Da-Noh are conscious of their world and able to sympathize with each other's situation.

Lee Tae Ri plays Jinmiche; He is a cook in the school and popular among the girls in the school. Despite the goofy and easy personality, Jinmiche also is aware of their world and informs Eun Da-Noh about the world that they are living in. Jinmiche who seems to guide Eun Da-Non in their world also suffers from the past that he can't erase.

When I first heard this drama then eventually see the visual concept. It reminds me of Princess Hours. Extraordinary You is a youth fantasy drama, surprisingly Princess Hours was broadcasted through MBC too. I actually miss those kinds of Korean dramas like Princess Hour and hopefully Extraordinary You will hit big like Princess Hours.

Personally, I love the casting for this drama. The main lead casts are all new and upcoming actors & actresses but that's how this drama is supposed to be; The cast is all in the same age range that's why they have that youthful and bright atmosphere during filming and it shows on screen too.

The editing for this drama was done like it's a comic and I find it funny and good since it correlates to the concept and subject of the drama. The chemistry between the cast are also good and they are all sync with it. The first to two episodes were well done and it was a good start.

After their premiere episodes, it solidifies to me that I will anticipate and look forward to this drama until it ends. The drama showcase it's comical side through the trailers but I tell you, friends, it's going to be a ride of heart fluttering and emotional contents so prepare your feels for it. I just hope the director and production will give justice for the webtoon as well as the cast. It could be a hit or miss for some but hopefully, it will hit well.

Extraordinary You airs every Wednesdays & Thursdays at 21:00 KST through MBC
